The University is home to one of the worlds’ over 500 Confucius Institutes. One of the largest of its kind, the CI at LSBU promotes Chinese language and culture including opportunities for studying in China. It also works with the local community,supporting over 50 London schools and providing nearly 8000 pupils with an understanding of Chinese culture and lessons in Mandarin.
Partnered with two Chinese universities, Heilongjiang University of Chinese Medicine and Harbin Normal University, the Institute receives Chinese teachers to the UK to support teaching and learning of Chinese culture and language. It also hosts visiting practitioners in acupuncture to teach at LSBU and in the local community.
